What you need to get a higher education. Free second higher education – benefits and opportunities for Russian students

Remote higher education is a teaching method in which the teacher and student are located at a distance from each other. They are deprived of the opportunity to see each other in person, but can communicate and see each other via the Internet. Some higher education institutions offer applicants to obtain the necessary knowledge in this way, and people who want to study happily take advantage of this opportunity.

The advantages of distance higher education are obvious:

  • you can live in one city/country and study in another
  • you don't need to waste time on the road
  • you choose a time convenient for you to study

Universities for distance higher education

Almost every state university that offers distance education on the basis of higher education is provided with all the necessary material and technical base.

In 2012, the Russian Federation passed Law No. 273-FZ “Law on Education in Russian Federation» which legalized and streamlined distance higher education. This was a breakthrough in the field of education in Russia, although this type of education has been practiced in the world for a long time.

Today, universities have the opportunity to conduct online seminars and take exams without meeting students in person. Therefore, educational institutions can offer a wide list of specialties that can be studied remotely.

Of course, you will not be able to get a profession that requires certain practical skills. It is impossible to study remotely to become a doctor or technologist, but you can become a lawyer, economist, journalist, manager, get a diploma in psychology, logistics and ecology... Some of the most popular areas distance education:

  • economy;
  • jurisprudence;
  • marketing;
  • finance and credit;
  • business Informatics;
  • digital design;
  • state and municipal administration;
  • automated information processing and management systems;
  • computer software and automated systems.

No matter what city you are in, you can study at any university in the country and abroad. Full list You can find universities of distance higher education on the website of the Unified Center for Higher Distance Education - ecvdo.ru or EduNetwork.ru.

How much does distance higher education cost?

Distance higher education is cheaper than full-time education both for the university itself and for students. The university does not pay for premises and utilities, students do not pay for travel, notebooks and other attributes.

The exact cost of education depends on the university and the level of qualifications you plan to obtain. The approximate cost of studying for a bachelor's degree varies from 30 to 60 thousand rubles per semester.

For example, at the UNIK Institute a semester (six-month) costs 48,000 rubles, training lasts 3.5-5 years depending on whether this is your first or second education.

Cost of distance education abroad ( specifically in European educational institutions) depends on the curriculum. The more items you choose, the more you pay. Load and cost consists of ECTS— modular credit system. The annual workload norm is 60 ECTS. For a bachelor's degree you need to score 180-240 ECTS, that is, 3-4 years of study, and for a master's degree 300 ECTS. In different universities, one ECTS costs differently, from 30 to 100 euros.

Another criterion is the popularity of the university.

Elite schools usually inflate their prices. For example, at the prestigious UK university Open University, the cost of ECTS is 42 euros, that is, you will need to pay per year 2500-3500 euros depending on specialization.

In Spanish Universidad a Distancia de Madrid The cost of ECTS is 73 euros, which means you will need to pay approximately 4380 euros per year.

The most expensive countries for studying are America, England, Germany, France and Canada. But the level of education there is significantly higher than that of other countries. Many foreign universities offer students to reduce their education costs in case of high academic performance and personal achievements - this way they motivate students to study better.

How is the training going?

  • If you want to pursue higher education remotely, you must have high-speed Internet and a webcam.

On your university website you will have your Personal Area, where you can see the class schedule, your homework, contacts of teachers, and you can download past lecture recordings. For each lesson you will be sent a link to an online conference, which can be held through the service Cisco WebEx or Adobe. If you were not present at the lecture, you can watch it at a convenient time in the recording. The only difference will be that during the lecture you can immediately ask questions to the teacher in a group chat.

Distance learning lasts the same amount of time as regular learning. If you get a second higher education, the time is significantly reduced (up to 1-3 years). After each session you go on vacation, but some universities give you the opportunity to skip this time and start the next course.

Distance education of the UNIK Institute

Here we can talk about receiving distance education using the example of a real student who shared his experience with us.

As we have already said, the obvious advantage of DO is that you can live not only in another city, but also in another country. Gleb lives in Moldova, but is studying to become a designer (digital design) at the Moscow UNIK Institute remotely. All documents for admission were sent by regular mail to the Moscow address of the university.

Evgeniy studies the basics of design, academic drawing, and almost all Adobe family programs. Gleb told us about the most important advantages for him -

“Among the teachers there are only active professionals, that is, designers, directors of companies and studios, those who earn money not only by teaching, but also by design. The teachers are young, from 25 to 40 years old, active and lively people who tell only relevant information, what you need to know today.”

The institute's training programs cover the full range of knowledge needed by a future specialist. Education through distance learning programs is equivalent to full-time education at regular universities. The Institute offers education in the following popular specialties:

  1. Journalism. During the course, you communicate with experienced representatives of the profession; after completion, each student is provided with assistance in finding a job. The course will teach you to inspire trust in people and correctly analyze information and events. Duration of training – from 4.5 to 3.5 years. Cost – 40,000 rubles for six months.
  2. Psychology. Serious but interesting program. The best teachers, lectures, seminars and master classes with the participation of famous psychologists. At this faculty you will receive the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Duration of training – from 3.5 to 5 years. Cost – 29,500 rubles for six months.
  3. Design. Faculty for creative people, future graphic designers and interior designers. Developing a portfolio, training practical skills. Duration of training – from 4.5 to 5 years. Cost – 48,000 rubles for six months.
  4. Foreign languages. Training is conducted in two profiles: translation and foreign language in the business field. Faculty specialists are in demand on the labor market. The duration of training is from 3.5 to 4.5 years. Cost – 48,000 rubles for six months.

Graduates of the institute work in various fields– from advertising agencies and media to the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. After training you will receive a state diploma. To enroll in the institute, just leave an application on the official website. Admissions specialists will call you and send you a detailed training plan. Institute staff will help prepare Required documents, will accept the introductory task and enroll you in the course.

Distance education abroad

If you choose to study abroad, first prepare the necessary documents. This is a certificate of complete secondary education, all necessary applications, letters of recommendation. All submitted documents will most likely have to be translated into a foreign language. When applying for a second higher education or master's degree, in addition to the standard package of documents, you must provide a diploma of higher education.

When applying to some English-speaking universities, you will have to take a language proficiency test, after which you will receive an international certificate TOEFL. If you want to enroll in a German university, you will need to pass TestDaF or DSH. Sometimes you have to take additional tests. For example, in order to become a student National University in the US, you will need to take tests in arithmetic and psychology.

The operating principle of foreign universities is similar to the operating principle of Russian ones. You register on the website of the educational institution, where you study lectures, take tests, take part in seminars, communicate with fellow students, and submit completed work.

Distance higher education is an excellent opportunity to gain a profession without attending lectures and seminars and without being distracted from work and other everyday activities.

Distance education allows you to communicate with a student at a distance: provide him with the necessary literature, communicate with him and control his knowledge. All this makes the learning process easier, faster and more effective.

If you find an error, please highlight a piece of text and click Ctrl+Enter.

The learning process of every person begins from childhood, when he goes to kindergarten, where he is given a certain base and ends with a university, where he learns a specific profession and will later get a job. Every year school graduates ask themselves: “ For what do you need to get a higher education?“, but, as a rule, all decisions are made by the parents and the child goes to the first nearest university on a paid basis to receive a diploma (or as it is also called a “crust”). All this is done so that after graduation he can get a well-paid job and have a stable income.

But in reality everything looks completely different. Choosing the first university you come across in your city, or expanding your search to another city or even another country, completely deciding on your future profession and successfully entering it does not mean that you have secured a good future for yourself. The myth that employers, choosing between a honors diploma and a regular one, choose a red diploma has long disappeared.

Now things are completely different. More and more more people they want to work for good money in a decent position, which forces them to study to become economists or lawyers more than to study for ordinary professions, such as a builder or a teacher.

It follows from this that there are 4 times more places for the position of accountant or banker than for the position of mechanic.

Despite such a number of potential employees, only a third of them really know their profession well and can work at the level of their salary.

So if you have a diploma with honors in your hands, and you are immediately hired for a position with a large salary, there is no way to call it a reliable and accurate fact.

A much more realistic example would be if you thoroughly understand the situation on the labor market in your city or city (country) where you want to work and enroll in a certain university for a certain specialty to obtain higher education.

Then the question “is it necessary to get higher education” will disappear by itself.

That is, you don’t have to ask yourself the question itself if you have a desire to study and work in your specialty, or you don’t have to ask it at all if you just need the “crust.”

It is also worth noting that educational institutions teach not only to master theory from books and lectures, but also to help a person navigate a large amount of different information; they prepare a person for a serious life, where there will be many new acquaintances, faces and characters. So we can easily say that the university sets itself the task of not only making the student memorize the entire educational material, but also to help him adapt more easily to different situations, which, undoubtedly, gives him some confidence in his actions in the future.

How quickly can you get a higher education?

If the question of whether you need to get a university education has been completely resolved for you, then it will be important to know about the duration of study for a specific specialty or how quickly you can get a higher education.

It’s quite difficult to answer specifically; it all depends on the profession, university and form of study. It is worth noting that there are quite a large number of types of universities; here we can highlight the following: universities, institutes, colleges, academies. That is, the problem of studying time is quite easily solved. For example, if you want to get a diploma in a short time, then your choice should fall on a college or academy, but the quality of knowledge that is given at a particular university plays an important role here. If the training time is approximately 2 years, then the result of such training will not be very good, that is, the less you study, the less you know about this or that specialty and, accordingly, by this indicator you can judge the qualifications of this or that specialist.

The situation is completely different with public educational institutions, such as a university or institute. Here the learning process is quite long and painstaking. It can take from three to six years, it all depends on the specialty and level you want to receive, from bachelor to specialist.

Here you will think about the desire to spend six years of your life studying at a university, but we can say with confidence that in 90% of cases it justifies itself, because, leaving the university after six years of study, the student has a very large stock of knowledge that he is ready to apply in practice. And at the end of our studies, we have good qualified specialists who are ready to start working.

Practice plays an important role in training, since it is precisely this that makes it easier to adapt from training directly to work.

It is worth noting here that employers often ask questions about work experience or practice, which allows them to finally verify your professional suitability and hire you.

Thus, we can conclude that there is no specific deadline for obtaining knowledge and a diploma. But if you need accurate indicators and do not know how quickly you can get a higher education, then a high-quality selection of certain universities with certain specialties and the exact start and end dates of your studies will help you, which will allow you to finally decide on the need to obtain a university education.

Take the test

I would like to comment on the situation as a teacher (from the other side of the barricades, so to speak). I communicate quite a lot with my students and many tell me why they entered and why. Parents and grandparents often force it. Often a person doesn’t know what to do after school, why not go to university? Often girls believe that education is a kind of dowry and that it is more interesting to talk to an educated wife. Many people go because “now there’s nowhere without a tower.” And only a small part comes to receive education with adequate expectations and understanding of the process.

In my opinion, to answer the question of whether it is worth it or not, we need to consider several trends and facts.

1. In general, all people do not need higher education. There are a huge number of jobs and specialties where a person needs specialized secondary education or just secondary education (completed school). For example, to work as a waiter, receptionist, secretary, courier, or barista, it is enough to graduate from school and undergo on-the-job training. If you are satisfied with this kind of work (they pay for it, by the way, often higher than for the work of specialists with higher education), then higher education will simply be a waste of 4-6 years of time (during which you will earn money at work and maybe get a couple of promotions ). Many students want to gain practical skills and algorithms (do it once, do it twice, here’s the result), they want a specific craft, from which they can live. This is a good request, but it is essentially a request for secondary specialized education. And this is not necessarily about electricians, plumbers and car mechanics. There are also hairdressers, manicurists, system administrators, jewelers and many, many others. These are good, necessary and paid professions. You can make a career in them and see the results of your work. Again, if you like this, then higher education will again be a waste of time and lost profit.

2. Unfortunately, people’s attitudes towards higher and secondary specialized education are not the same. In our country, higher education is still perceived with respect and honor. And they often speak about secondary special education with disdain (for example, “ugh, some kind of birder”, “this is for stupid people”, “why couldn’t you at least get into a bad university”?). I think this is completely wrong. This phenomenon has its roots in Soviet time, when specialists with higher education worked in more comfortable conditions, received a much higher salary and moved up the career ladder. About 20% of people had higher education, and obtaining a diploma was a powerful bid for social success. The memory of those times is still alive in the minds of our parents and grandparents. The situation, however, has completely changed since the mid-80s (30 years have passed, but the stereotypes remain). The demand for specialists with higher education is not as great as the supply (thousands of university graduates are not in demand). And, on the contrary, the professions of a makeup artist, administrator or call center operator are in much greater demand, they pay more and higher education is essentially not needed there. Why waste 4-6 years?

3. Higher education now performs the functions that were previously performed by secondary education. Previously, the school did not hesitate to leave children who had not mastered it well enough for a second year. school curriculum. A grade of "one" was in use and a two had to be earned. No higher demands were made; the demands were simply adhered to more consistently and clearly. By the end of school, a person had not only a basic set of knowledge, but also a number of social skills sufficient to start adult life. Nowadays, a school graduate is rarely ready for anything. Everyone is given a certificate, repeaters are pulled up to 11th grade (even if they don’t really know the 7th grade program). But in the end, these people need to be sent somewhere so that they can “mature”, gain communication skills, and understand how, what and where. And so they are sent to a university for another 4 years to learn their wits. This is not about a full-fledged higher education, it is about socialization and entry into culture. + Of course, now there is objectively more information and a more complex social structure, people are growing up later than before (a global trend).

4. The quality of higher education leaves much to be desired (this applies to both regular and top universities). There are many reasons for this. This is also the mass exodus of teachers in the 90s. And insufficient funding, insufficiently high salaries. And excessive bureaucracy, endless checks. And as I wrote above, the level of preparation of applicants is not always sufficient (and often it’s not about knowledge, but about the ability to plan your time, communicate politely with teachers, independently complete tasks without super-detailed instructions, the ability to motivate yourself, etc. ).

5. Ultimately, higher education for many is a way to get some kind of magic crust. Its magic lies in the fact that parents and relatives will leave him alone. The magic is that the employer will not show off (and the employer requires higher education both where it is necessary and where it is not necessary).

So is it worth it or not?

If you just want to earn money in peace, the content of your work activity is not so important to you, your relatives are putting pressure on you, and you want to “be no worse than everyone else,” then IT’S NOT WORTH IT. You will lose several years of your life without seeing the point in your actions. You'll miss out on the professional experience and money you could get if you went straight to work.

If it is important for you to engage in a specific job or area of activity that requires in-depth training. If you want to engage in teaching and/or scientific activities. If you want to gain deep knowledge not only about how to do a specific job, but also understand how society and the world work. If you are committed to self-development in the intellectual sphere. Then it's WORTH it.

The phrase " free education" has long been turned into a humorous expression. In the new socio-economic conditions in which our country has lived since 1991, the right to study exists, but no one guarantees that such services will be provided completely free of charge.

Let's consider the question of the right to such training at a university.

So, is there hope for today's school leavers?

Of course, there is such hope. Many of this year's graduates and others next years They will study on budget places and receive a long-awaited scholarship. Many, but not all.

After all, completely free education in the Russian Federation is provided only in schools, and even then there are paid additional educational services. It is also possible to study for free in colleges and universities, but not everyone who wishes ends up in such places.

If you have a benefit (you are disabled, an orphan, the son or daughter of a Hero of Russia), then you can get into the university for budget place easier, but if you are not one of the beneficiaries, everything becomes much more complicated, and you act on a general basis.

But it is very, very difficult to enter a university on a budget-funded place on a general basis.

But more about everything.

All about budget places in universities

Every year the Ministry of Education determines the number of budget places in our country. As you know, such places assume that an applicant admitted to a university will receive his education completely free of charge (that is, without investing his personal funds in it), and the state itself will also pay him a small financial incentive (in other words, a scholarship) .

However, if the applicant does not score enough points to be admitted to a budget-funded place, he can study in a paid department, paying a certain fee for his studies at the university every semester (naturally, he will not receive any scholarship).

It would seem that budget places in universities are truly free education. However, everything is not as simple as it seems at first glance.

After all, then our education system would be simply ideal, but this is far from the case.

Number of budget places

The number of budget places is calculated based on the number of school graduates. It is equal to approximately half of all eleventh-graders in the country who graduate from high school.

At the same time, not every second school graduate ends up enrolling in a state-funded place at a university, because in addition to yesterday’s schoolchildren, there are also college graduates, as well as graduates of previous years. As a result, throughout the country the competition for budget places is on average 4-5 people per place. For some specialties there is less competition, for others it is many times greater and reaches 20-30 people per budget place.

It all depends on the prestige of a particular specialty.

Therefore, with such “arithmetic”, getting a free education at a university becomes much more difficult.

Number of budget places in full-time and part-time departments

It should be noted that the number of budget places in full-time and part-time departments, as a rule, differs. Universities distribute a larger number of places to full-time departments, extramural- less.

It also happens that it is generally impossible to get a correspondence education for free. There are specialties in universities, but they are completely transferred to a paid basis.

The only thing that can be advised to an applicant is to collect as much as possible useful information. Already in the spring, the exact number of budget places is always known. All universities have their own websites, where you can always find a page for applicants. The appointment plan is always posted on this page.

Hence the advice - if you want to get a free education, make every effort to achieve your goal. Find out in advance the number of budget places for a particular educational profile and calculate your strength.

What specialties can you enroll in for free?

There are quite a large number of specialties in universities that are considered non-prestigious, so there is little competition for them.

Trends, of course, change over time, but in general such professions always exist.

For example, every fifth or sixth large university has teaching specialties that require training with the qualification “Russian language teacher.” And there is another department, after graduating from which you can get a diploma not as a teacher, but as a philologist or journalist. Of course, the last two professions are considered more prestigious, and therefore there is more competition for the budget for them.

The same can be said for other professions: livestock specialist, sociocultural specialist, librarian, etc. Here, it will not be at all difficult for a school graduate with an average Unified State Examination score to get a government-funded place.

But, for example, becoming a lawyer or economist for free will be much more difficult. And a specialist in international law- and even more so...

What is a target location?

However, there is another option for free. It is connected with admission to the so-called “target” place.

What is it about? The fact that an agreement is concluded between the employer of a potential applicant and the university, according to which the employer pays for the training of a young student, and then he has the right to demand that the specialist work for him for a certain number of years. Often such an employer is the state itself, represented by ministries and departments that need specialists of a certain type of training.

For example, a federal subject needs doctors (there is an acute shortage of them now). A quota of 30-70 target places is allocated for this subject. and studies on an equal basis with other students, however, after receiving a diploma, he is required to work for several years in government medical institutions that subject, thanks to whom he received his target place.

Otherwise, the student is obliged to reimburse the state for the costs of his studies in full.

Is it possible to get professional retraining for free?

Some young people who already have a higher education realize over time that the profession does not suit them.

But they have already received higher education for free once in their lives. They have a need to undergo professional retraining to engage in a new type of professional activity.

Is this possible? Yes, it’s possible, but if budget places in universities are still available, then additional professional education offered exclusively as a paid option educational services. Therefore, such a person, in fact, has two ways to solve his problem.

First solution: pay for your own education.

Second solution: try to have the employer pay for it.

In fact, there are cases when employers are interested in improving the level of professional skills of their employees and even giving them the opportunity to gain the right to engage in a new type of professional activity.

This can be used to obtain a diploma professional retraining for free.

Is it possible to get a second higher education without paying?

Unfortunately, according to the law on education of our country, it is impossible to obtain a second free education at a university. The state guarantees only one education. Let’s immediately make a reservation that we are not talking about continuing education, for example, in a master’s or graduate school.

But, alas, it is no longer possible to study for a bachelor’s degree twice for free or to study for a master’s degree twice. This applies even to those cases where the first higher education was paid.

Is it possible to transfer from a paid branch to a free one?

Many students who enroll in paid departments of universities, sparing their financial resources, and sometimes simply not having enough of them, strive to transfer from a paid department to a free one.

Thus, they want to get higher education for free, just starting not from the 1st year, but a little higher.

Is this possible?

In general, this is possible, but there are certain nuances that you need to know.

Firstly, a paying student can get a budget place only if there are vacant budget places at the university. Simply put, if one of the state-funded students was expelled. Next, it is necessary that its translation be agreed upon with the curator of the group, the dean of the faculty. Many universities prescribe rules for transferring from a paid department to a budget one, indicating that such a student candidate for a budget place must be an excellent student or a good student, must show himself with the best side, his teachers should speak positively about him, etc.

If you received secondary education for free, is it possible to enter a university on a budget?

Yes, such a procedure is possible. Secondary specialized and secondary vocational education will not prevent a young person from continuing his studies at a higher educational institution. Moreover, college graduates today have an opportunity that school graduates are deprived of: they can enter universities without the Unified State Exam, passing only entrance exams.

Moreover, practice shows that such applicants receive more high scores on entrance exams than school graduates, so they are more likely to get a budget place.

What can help an applicant get a budget place?

Well, firstly, good knowledge in the field of the sciences that he will have to study. A high Unified State Examination for a modern school graduate is a “real ticket” not only to a budget place, but also to a prestigious university.

Secondly, the applicant needs to show real ingenuity, study carefully all the specialties that are offered at universities, find out what the competition is for these specialties, etc.

Thirdly, the applicant must be well aware of his rights. Nowadays it is not uncommon for members admissions committees At the request of university leaders, they refuse to accept documents for budget-funded education for far-fetched reasons. This is done in order to prevent “people from the street” from participating in budget training. Therefore, the applicant himself and his parents must firmly know all their rights and be able to defend them.

Are there other ways to get a budget place?

Basically, all the ways to a budget place have been listed above. There are, however, several more ways. For example, there are free competitions of the Ministry of Education. The prize for winning them is often the right to a budget-funded place at a particular university. Also, in rare cases, a university may accept a promising student not for a budget-funded place, but for a place that it will finance from its own internal funds.

Thus, in general, everything depends on the will of the heads of universities themselves and the executive secretary of the admissions committee.

What conclusions can be drawn?

Based on the above, we can conclude that getting education for free in modern conditions Maybe. However, this requires a lot of effort. You also need to have high academic performance, be able to navigate the modern labor market, and wisely choose a suitable specialty and a suitable university.

In fact, today, despite significant achievements of progress, a person who dreams of knowledge and scientific degree, it is also difficult to prove one’s worth, as in the time of M.V. Lomonosov. What did the Russian genius go through to get the proper degree of education: hardships, hunger, and cold. Meanwhile, he also studied at government expense, that is, speaking modern language, occupied a budget place.

His example proves that anyone who wants to learn can get a higher education for free. Therefore, everything is in our hands: our successes and our failures. You just need to boldly move forward and not be afraid of anything.

Hello, dear readers of the blog site. Surely many applicants are faced with the fact that they did not pass the Unified State Exam well enough and now cannot enroll in state-funded places and there is only one option left for obtaining a higher education - enrolling in paid training. The cost of paid higher education may simply shock you, but it is possible to get higher education cheaply. Of course, it’s relatively cheap, but cheap higher education still exists, you just have to search a little. Read this article about where to look.

Generally speaking, there are not too many options, but they exist and may be of interest to someone. Only considered full-time education. I won’t touch on saving options such as correspondence or distance learning, since I don’t have verified information, and I don’t want to confuse you.

So, how to get a higher education cheaply? Here are three savings options.

Admission to a non-prestigious university.

Just a grade book

If you study for 5, then there is a chance to move to a budget place. But there are some difficulties here:

  • This is not practiced in all universities. But still, in many universities you can switch to a budget-funded place of study if you study excellently and come forward in time to be transferred to a budget-funded place.
  • Perhaps there will be no budget places available, then there will be nowhere to go.
  • The specialty to which you can transfer may differ slightly from the one in which you studied before.
  • You will be able to transfer no earlier than your third year, which means you will definitely have to pay tuition for several years.

Thus, excellent studies can also help you get a higher education cheaply. Since you will not have to pay for the entire training time, but only part of it, therefore, the rest can be considered pure savings.

If you can’t get into a budget place of study, then don’t despair, there is an opportunity to get a cheap higher education, you just need to put a little effort into finding cheaper places to study! If you found the article useful, please share it using the buttons located just below..
