Story

Izhevsk State Technical University (IzhSTU) (until 1994 - Mechanical Institute of the Ministry of Higher Education of the USSR, Izhevsk Mechanical Institute), was formed on the basis of Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 1034 of February 22, 1952 as a higher educational institution of the Ministry of Higher Education of the USSR to provide qualified engineering personnel of the industry of the USSR, the city of Izhevsk and the Udmurt Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.

At the initial stage in the organization of the university, the potential of MSTU was widely used. N. E. Bauman, who had experience in training engineers in Izhevsk (evacuation during the Great Patriotic War).

The first admission of students, which took place in September 1952, amounted to 200 people. The list of faculties and specialties gradually expanded, and branches were opened in the cities of the republic and region (Votkinsk, Sarapul, Glazov, Tchaikovsky, Kambarka).

In 2012, the university was named after M. T. Kalashnikov.

The founder of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education "Izhevsk State Technical University" is the Government of the Russian Federation. The powers of the founder are exercised by the Federal Agency for Education.

The general management of Izhevsk State Technical University is carried out by an elected representative body - the Academic Council, whose powers are regulated by current legislation and the Charter of Izhevsk State Technical University. There are also an Educational and Methodological Council and an Expert Council for Educational Publications. The rector directly manages the activities of the university.

About 700 teachers work in 64 departments (50 of them are major departments). More than 60% of teachers have an academic degree. Over the years of the university’s existence, more than 50 thousand specialists have been trained.

At the initial stage, the university was located in one building in the central part of the city. Modern Izhevsk State Technical University is located on the forest outskirts of Izhevsk. The following are compactly located on the campus: 8 academic buildings, a stadium, the Integral student palace, 7 dormitories, a dispensary, a catering facility, and a student clinic. In 2012, construction of the pool began, which was put into operation on January 30, 2013.

Student teams

  • In 1967, the first construction teams were created at the IMI (IzhSTU) at the Central Headquarters of the MTR under the Central Committee of the Komsomol to work in rural construction and electrification of agriculture. The headquarters formed the student detachment of transport construction “Udmurtia”, later divided into two detachments, the basis for it was 191 students from IMI (IzhSTU), 4 from USPI (UdGU) and 2 from IGMA. Students of the Udmurtia-1 detachment built a warehouse for mineral fertilizers at the Yanaul station, as well as a railway dead end to it and a 2-story house for track workers and a railway platform. The Udmurtia-2 detachment worked at the Chad station, where two residential brick houses were being built, two passenger platforms were equipped and the main railway track was being laid.
  • In 1968, the “Transistor” detachment was formed, uniting students from IMI (IzhSTU), as well as the “Energia” detachment, which was engaged in laying electricity in remote villages of Udmurtia.
  • In 1971, the first student brigades of conductors in Udmurtia were formed, and in 1974 pedagogical brigades appeared, most of which were students of the Izhevsk Mechanical Institute.
  • In 1987 and 1988, SSO from IMI (IzhSTU) and other universities of the republic won the all-Union socialist competition.

Modern units

  • In 2001, the revival of student groups began in Udmurtia. At IzhSTU there appeared the open source software “Victory”, the open source system “D. E.M.S.”, and in 2005, 3 detachments of guides of SOP “ROMAT”, SOP “Edelweiss” and SOP “Prof.com” appeared.
  • On March 4, 2004, the headquarters of student teams at Izhevsk State Technical University was created, which was named after the technical university - “Mekhan”.
  • In 2008, several teams of guides, builders and teachers appeared. Student construction teams took part in all-Russian construction projects at Olympic venues in Sochi, Academichesky Yekaterinburg, Bovanenkovo ​​Yamal Peninsula. Detachments of conductors worked on the Gorky and Oktyabrskaya railways and were awarded certificates of honor from JSC FPC.
  • 2013-2014 became an important period in the life of the Mekhan JV. 3 new student groups were formed: SPO "Danko", SPS "Italmas", SSO "Molot". The Mekhan headquarters celebrated its tenth anniversary.

Student teams

Recent history:

  • In 2001, the revival of student groups began in Udmurtia. This is how the open source software “Victory” and the open source system “D.” appear at IzhSTU. Student construction teams perform well at all-Russian construction sites at the Olympic venues in Sochi, Academichesky Yekaterinburg, Bovanenkovo ​​on the Yamal Peninsula. Detachments of conductors work brilliantly on the Gorky and Oktyabrskaya railways, are awarded certificates of honor from JSC FPC, and win the respect of passengers and headquarters of Udmurtia and Yekaterinburg. Pedagogical teams work in children's camps throughout the country, including the Black Sea coast, St. Petersburg, etc.
  • In 2012, A.S. Vyaznikov became the new commander of the Mekhan SSO, who recruited active people to his headquarters and continued the activities of the previous leadership, including raising the importance of student groups in the arena of Izhevsk State Technical University. M. T. Kalashnikova.
  • 2013-2014 becomes an important period in the life of every member of the Mekhan Society. 3 new student teams are being recruited: SPO "Danko", SPS "Italmas", SSO "Molot", all main directions are strengthening their positions. The Mekhan headquarters is celebrating its tenth anniversary. During this preparatory period, the following events, which have already become a tradition, are held at a higher level: “Squad tales”, “Team arrival at the dispensary”, “Snow figure competition”, “Galevka”, “Rat race”.
  • Student groups have their own newspaper, founded in May 2007. Soldiers, seniors and candidates look forward to each issue with great impatience, and this explains a lot; all the most interesting things from the life of the SO are published in the SO newspaper “Koster”! Over 7 years of existence, more than 50 issues were published, with a circulation of 100 or more copies, with a total of more than 30,000 pages!
  • Student teams of IzhSTU are the main platform for all teams in Udmurtia, it is their names that are heard throughout Russia, it is thanks to them that these days students can find a decent salary not only in the summer, but throughout the year, a lot of entertainment and friends from all over the country!

Izhevsk State Technical University named after M.T.
