Schools of additional education for schoolchildren. Additional education

“Advanced” high school students, aimed at entering leading universities in Russia (and for budget places), choose classes in preparatory courses at universities. Let's talk in more detail about what modern universities offer to schoolchildren, using the example of such leading Russian universities as Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov, Moscow State Institute of International Relations and Ural Federal University.

Modern schoolchildren often have to face the fact that the fundamental knowledge acquired at school (despite its fairly high level) is not enough to enter leading universities. Moreover, teachers themselves are increasingly saying that high school students who plan to receive higher education need to worry about additional preparation for entrance exams(more precisely, to the Unified State Exam, since it is its results that are considered by the admissions committee when entering Russian universities).

There are several ways to prepare for entrance exams today:

  • take proven courses or listen to lectures with the possibility of feedback on relevant web resources;
  • hire a tutor who will help you in a certain subject;
  • enroll in preparation courses for the Unified State Exam.

However, all these methods have one, but significant drawback - they are aimed more at expanding fundamental knowledge than at preparing for studying at a university. Therefore, the most “advanced” high school students, aimed at entering the leading universities of Russia (and for budget places), choose classes in preparatory courses at universities.

Let’s say right away that this type of additional education has a number of advantages. Firstly, classes are taught by university teachers, which allows schoolchildren and their parents to find out the professionalism of the teaching staff even before entering the educational institution. Secondly, visiting preparatory courses provides an opportunity to get acquainted with the infrastructure of the university, thanks to which yesterday’s student gets accustomed to the walls of his alma mater much faster. Thirdly, direct communication with teachers and students helps students understand whether they made the right choice of profession or not. Accordingly, at this stage they still have the opportunity to correct the mistake (if one was made) and thereby not “lose” several years of their life.

Well, now let's talk in more detail about what modern universities offer to schoolchildren, using the example of such leading Russian universities as Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov, Moscow State Institute of International Relations and Ural Federal University.

Pre-university training at Moscow State University

Faculty additional education Moscow State University named after. M.V. Lomonosov covers almost all areas and aspects of pre-university training. In particular, classes are held here for primary school students (grades 1-4) according to the developmental program “Entertaining Mathematics”. Each faculty runs preparatory courses where schoolchildren can improve their knowledge in a particular subject. Various clubs and educational courses organized at Moscow State University allow schoolchildren to combine their studies with their hobbies, and the career guidance center allows them to decide on their future profession.

The Small Academy of Moscow State University deserves a separate discussion, which helps schoolchildren not only prepare for entrance exams, but also “find themselves.” The main areas of work of the Small Academy include:

Pre-university preparation at MGIMO

Faculty activities pre-university training MGIMO is aimed at students successfully passing the Unified State Exam, developing a career guidance system, creating all the necessary conditions for improving specialized training, holding subject school Olympiads, etc.

Schoolchildren are offered a choice of two options for the Entrant education program: designed for students in grades 10-11 (2 years), and an accelerated version (1 year), intended for 11th graders. Both versions of the Entrant program include classes aimed at:

  • preparing schoolchildren for the Unified State Exam in Russian and foreign languages, as well as in other specialized subjects of the university;
  • preparing high school students for additional university entrance exams.

Also, on the basis of MGIMO, modular programs for studying foreign languages (German, English, Spanish, French) are being implemented, aimed both at preparing for the Unified State Exam and at improving general conversational knowledge.

Pre-university preparation at UFU

The Faculty of Pre-University Training at UFU offers a large number of educational programs aimed at bridging the gap between the level of fundamental knowledge acquired at school and the requirements that the university imposes on first-year students. The programs are aimed at high school students and take into account:

  • level of knowledge and nature of schoolchildren’s hobbies;
  • features of the school schedule;
  • features of the faculty that the student plans to enroll in;
  • place of residence and financial capabilities of the listener.

Schoolchildren can undergo pre-university training either in evening courses, which include classes in mathematics, physics, Russian, chemistry, English, computer science, social studies and history, or in Sunday courses, where the student can “brush up” his knowledge in mathematics, physics, chemistry, history, Russian language and social studies.

The main functions of pre-university training for schoolchildren

It is important to understand that everything pre-university training programs schoolchildren perform the following functions:

  • developmental – aimed at identifying the student’s creative abilities and satisfying his intellectual needs;
  • educational – helps develop the child’s personality and increases his level of social adaptation;
  • compensatory – ensures the elimination of gaps in fundamental knowledge acquired at school;
  • corrective – focused on bringing the existing level of school education in accordance with the requirements of universities;
  • adapting – facilitates the student’s adaptation to the educational process at the university and life in the student community.

Thus, we can draw an unambiguous conclusion: pre-university preparation is an effective tool for the social and professional adaptation of a student who strives for obtaining higher education.

Additional education is an educational process aimed at meeting a person’s need to improve basic intellectual, professional and special skills. The methodology is based on developing existing skills and acquiring new knowledge.

What are the features of out-of-school children's educational institutions?

The school educational program is focused primarily on the child’s acquisition of fundamental knowledge. Despite this, many of the practical skills necessary for a successful career in life remain outside the school curriculum. Therefore, most parents try to ensure that their children attend various specialized clubs and sections in addition.

School education can also achieve such goals through the introduction of special courses and lectures. Among the institutions where additional education programs are implemented, there are the following: general education (palaces of children's and youth creativity, young naturalist stations), professional (art schools), sports, technical, scientific, social organizations, as well as special (correctional) educational institutions. But here these programs are already basic and fundamental. This is how school differs from a regular educational institution.

Main tasks of sections and circles

For younger students, classes are often conducted in the form of games. Thanks to such activities, students are focused on success at an early age and learn to solve non-standard problems. For them, additional education programs look like an exciting way to spend their own leisure time in a circle of like-minded people. Employment of schoolchildren outside of school hours helps to strengthen self-organization, resistance to the influence of negative environmental factors, and forms the concept of a healthy lifestyle.

Planning students' time

Children's schools of additional education allow us to solve the problem of expediently spending leisure time for students, reducing the likelihood of the influence of “bad companies”. Often in institutions of this type, groups are divided not by age, but by the degree of mastery of the subject, stimulating communication between various age categories with varying degrees of life experience. This gives positive results: children develop social skills to communicate with like-minded people of all age groups, and the process of rapid maturation is stimulated.

Is an additional education program needed at school?

Clubs and various sections at school allow you to increase the learning space by including the student in a social life filled with interesting tasks and problems that require an individual approach to solution. Self-expression and self-affirmation of schoolchildren are activated, and their personalities develop comprehensively.

Institutions of additional education and the school, interacting, ensure the comprehensive intellectual, spiritual and professional development of the child. In addition, the baby begins to understand how one can engage in personal self-improvement. Through the integration of basic and additional education, students participate in various types of activities, ensuring the interconnection of the cognitive and creative spheres.

Additional educational programs for children should be introduced in kindergarten, thus instilling in the child the habit of constantly enriching their knowledge and skills.

Lack of motivation as the main problem of the educational process

Teachers in general education institutions often face similar difficulties. In additional institutions, students usually make informed choices. They decide for themselves in what direction their education will be directed. Unless this choice was imposed on them by overly caring parents. Therefore, mothers and fathers should ask: why do carefree schoolchildren who seem to have no “adult problems” often experience overload?

It is worth observing the golden mean - the child must have time for play and walks. After all, if there is not enough personal space, the student will use additional activities to relax. The consequences of information overload can be quite dire: from apathy to violent protest.

Prospects

Living in modern society involves high levels of stress. According to many scientists, creative activity is an effective means of removing a person from a stressful state. Children are even more susceptible to external influences, so psychologists often recommend that they engage in additional creativity. Education at school, focusing on basic subjects, at this stage does not allow students to receive a sufficient level of creative growth, which is closely related to personal growth. Therefore, the conclusion suggests itself: additional and basic components should form a single educational space.

In addition, recently many graduates are faced with the fact that regular schooling is not enough to enter some educational institutions. Therefore, the educational program of additional education at school often involves a final certification, based on the results of which the student is issued a document indicating the acquisition of new knowledge and skills. This allows you to expand your capabilities when choosing a future profession.

The names of the new Moscow courses for children sound like the disciplines of the Hogwarts magical school. The first advantage of courses over classical art and music schools is that they can be changed every month, or even every week. Secondly, many programs assume that on weekends you will build satellites, draw models, and even swim with dolphins with the whole family.

Robotics and industrial design at the “Roboschool” at VDNKh

In the second pavilion of VDNKh, four educational programs for children from six years old were launched. In basic robotics courses, each child creates a robot from scratch: constructs its model and programs the “heart” - a system of simple codes. The second program, called STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics), is a set of engineering lessons with constant experiments. Industrial design class - for children with a passion for art. In the first part of the class, students will be told the history of modern design, and in the second part they will be helped to create their own art project. The fourth educational program “Electrical Engineering” is designed for those who are interested in unscrewing screws in alarm clocks and telephones. The child will be shown how technology actually works and will be taught how to design new devices.

Classes take place from 16:30 on weekdays and from 11:00 to 20:30 on weekends. The cost of one lesson is 1,500 rubles. Monthly cost (4 classes) - 5,200 rubles. Course (12 lessons) - 13,800 rubles. The “Roboschool” schedule for the 2017–2018 academic year is on the official website.

Pottery skills, turning courses and a stained glass workshop in the Crafts Park at VDNKh

Children's courses at the Crafts Park are accepted from the age of four. You can create a program yourself from ten subjects. Among them are working with a potter's wheel and lathe, modeling clay products, creating porcelain, burning dishes, and do-it-yourself home decor. How do these courses differ from handicraft clubs? At the Crafts Park, teachers do not give students uniform samples and help the child bring his own idea to the finished product. On weekends, parents join the children. The creators of the educational program “Crafts Park” note that the individual approach of creative courses is also convenient for children with special needs.

You can register for any lesson of the course separately, as for a master class. The cost of a lesson in a children's group is 800 rubles. The cost of a separate master class is from 500 to 2,000 rubles. The course schedule is on the Crafts Park website.

Carpentry courses at the Moscow Wooden School

Workers of the carpentry workshop “Mechanical Wooden Gears” Vyacheslav Shvaikov (carpenter, designer) and Ekaterina Menshikova (architect) have compiled three serious courses for children from 5 to 12 years old. Classes are held at the “Mother’s Garden” club in the Hermitage Garden. Course 1.0 - game lectures and experiments related to the study of the structure of wood, cones and needles, the basics of design, the basic shapes of things. In course 2.0, children create their first products, and in the third stage they learn the intricacies of finishing. It is not necessary to follow exactly this sequence: for example, a five-year-old child can attend both the second and third programs at the same time.

The courses are taught by the founders themselves: Vyacheslav and Ekaterina communicate with students as equals and take their fantasies seriously. Children set their own goals: if a girl decides to make a tractor, and a boy decides to make a princess house, the teachers will help the child draw up an action plan.

On Saturdays, the school hosts family master classes: children teach moms and dads how to make toys and dishes from wood.

The cost of one lesson is 1,500 rubles. The schedule is on the website.

Surgery, paleontology and detective courses of the Smart Moscow project

“Smart Moscow” is a two-hour course for children from 7 to 14 years old in the ZIL center. Each course is designed in a practical game format. On “Surgery” children perform operations on a toy parrot, on “Palaeontology” they find the remains of dinosaurs, on the “Scientific Detective” program they investigate a crime. The courses are conducted for two age groups: from 7 to 9 years old and from 10 to 14. Up to 60 children participate in each lesson, students are divided into four teams of 15 people and distributed in closed laboratories. There are no team captains here - each child must conduct an experiment with their own hands so that their group wins. Teachers and developers of “Smart Moscow” are graduates of the Russian National Research Medical University named after. N.I. Pirogov and Moscow State University. M. V. Lomonosov.

“The project began with lectures for adults, but gradually we realized that popularizing science for children is a more promising and interesting niche for us,” says geographer Mikhail Kneller, founder of Smart Moscow.

Each child's lesson ticket includes a program for parents. Moms and dads are invited to a scientific lecture with a quiz (prizes are promised).

The cost of one ticket (one child + one or two adults) is 1,750 rubles. For groups of 12 people - 1,600 rubles. Class schedule is on the official website.

Young Astronomers Club at the Moscow Planetarium

To get into children's classes at the Moscow Planetarium, you need to fill out a form, go through an interview and hope for an answer - the group recruits children who are already fascinated by the stars and know that Saturn has seven rings. The age limits of the circle are narrow: they accept children in grades 6–7. Interviews began on August 20 and will run until October 1. The first lecture of the course is scheduled for October 3. The course is non-commercial; you cannot attend classes outside of the interview for an additional fee.

The program of the first year of the club includes working with different types of telescopes and observing variable stars from the roof of the center, studying the history of the origin of the Solar system, the basic history of astronomy and the laws of motion of celestial bodies.

Detailed information about the club can be found.

In the children's center of the Jewish Museum and the Tolerance Center for schoolchildren there is a theater studio of professor of the acting department at the Institute of Culture Inna Waksenburg and an After school program (like an extended day group at school, only with lunch in the museum cafe). From September 19, the museum is launching a second course for directors aged 8 to 12, “Film Project 8.”

The program includes eight classes on Tuesdays (from 16:00 to 18:00), in each of which the child will master one of the stages of film production. The first lesson is trial and free, its topic is script dramaturgy. In the next classes, students will be explained why modern styles and genres are needed, and will be taught how to use a professional camera and work with actors.

After the theoretical part of the course, each child will create a script for his own sketch, in which he will act. Teachers promise not to influence the student’s idea - only to give advice on its implementation.

The museum posted the works of first-year students on Vimeo. https://vimeo.com/225733258

Monthly subscription (four classes) - 4,000 rubles. Registration for the project is limited. You can register on the website.

Courses in storytelling and literary creativity at the State Museum of the History of Russian Literature named after V. I. Dahl

In the “Weekend Tale” studio at the Dahl Museum there are two educational directions for schoolchildren - “Literary Creativity” and “Storytelling”. The creator of the literary program, writer and screenwriter Valentina Degteva, came up with courses for children from 10 to 13 years old who do not like to read. During classes at the Weekend Tale studio, small groups (five to seven people) make films (there are master classes on silent films), draw cartoons with new twists on well-known plots, and prove in debates who is right, Pechorin or Grushnitsky.

If parents come to courses with their children, they participate in the process: they play costume designers and set designers for productions. If you are not afraid to embarrass your child, Valentina will give you salt dough and invite you to make a figurine.

Storytelling courses are accepted from 5 to 13 years of age. Here children are taught to put together logical stories from chaotic fragments, explain how to present an idea so that it is understood, and give examples from classical and modern literature.

The cost of one lesson is 500 rubles. The cost of a six-month subscription is 3,400 rubles. Class schedule is on the official website.

Virtual reality technologies, 3D modeling and industrial design at the Lab on Myasnitskaya

On August 30, a co-working space “Laba” opened on Myasnitskaya with courses for children from seven years old. The creators of the project are the founder of the Museum of Soviet Slot Machines Maxim Pinigin and architect Nikolai Mikheev. Maxim and Nikolay’s idea is to show schoolchildren that valuable new ideas are born at the intersection of several sciences. “Here you can implement any idea, from a satellite to a stool, in the material world,” says Mikheev.

On September 1, the Lab launched ten areas of courses for schoolchildren: 3D modeling and 3D printing, exciting programming, industrial design, VR/AR (virtual and augmented reality technologies), animation, creating architectural projects from scratch, modeling ships and cars and airplanes.

The program schedule is specially designed so that the student can try all directions. The idea for a child’s graduation project can combine three disciplines at once.

Adults can also attend classes. The cost of courses does not depend on age.

The Lab has all the necessary equipment for architects, designers, furniture makers and jewelers (for example, milling and laser machines, a cutting plotter and a 3D printer). While your child is building a spaceship, you can complete your work.

The cost of six classes is 11,000 rubles. Class schedule is on the official website.

Lecture hall for “young Cousteaus”, a school for young trainers and swims with dolphins at the Moskvarium

If a child watches the film about Willie the Killer Whale for the third time, enroll him in the Moskvarium young trainer school at VDNKh. Children and teenagers from 8 to 17 years old are grouped into groups of 5–7 people. An oceanology professor gives them tours of the entire aquarium, and the lead bottlenose dolphin trainer talks about the intricacies of communication with animals. At this time, children watch the training of killer whales and walruses. The second part of the course is practical. Students play with dolphins, standing on a platform, rehearse commands and overcome fear. Then everyone is given 10 minutes to swim with a dolphin in a large pool.

All participants who decide to swim with animals receive a young trainer diploma.

In their free time from classes, parents can join their child - the Moskvarium program includes family swims with dolphins (session for four - 25,000 rubles).

The cost of one day of classes in a children's group (4 hours with lunch) is 10,000 rubles. Details about the project can be found.

Programming, logic of Minecraft codes and creation of mobile applications at Moscow Coding School

In order for a student to spend time at the computer usefully, it is enough to choose one of three courses at Moscow Coding School - “Programming for Children: Applications” (from 11 to 14 years old), “Gadgets with Alexander Bratchikov” (from 10 to 14 years old) or “Programming for children: Minecraft" (from 10 to 13 years). The first educational program is for those who have never programmed. After six lessons, the child can download his own application on the iPhone from the AppStore. Schoolchildren are clearly taught how to create a competent design and translate an idea into a prototype, and then a working sample of the application. The “pass” to the course is a MacBook with the Xcode environment loaded.

The section on gadgets is led by the famous web developer, Strelka graduate Alexander Bratchikov. During his classes, Alexander explains to children in understandable language why mobile phones and computers work the way they do.

For the third year, you will have to download the Minecraft game to your child’s computer for educational purposes. Students will influence the course of action and emotions of the characters using Phyton code.

The cost of one course is 14,999 rubles. Detailed schedule and registration are on the official website.

Modeling from clay, designing ships, in-depth study of English - today it is difficult to imagine children's development without various clubs and sections. Some parents try to find a tutor for their child, but additional education for schoolchildren can cope with this. It is carried out both at the schools themselves and in various educational centers.

It's no secret that chess player Anatoly Kasparov, actor Sergei Nikonenko, director Rolan Bykov and many other talented people came from additional education institutions. Unlike school lessons, which every student is forced to attend, regardless of his own aspirations, desires and abilities, a child can choose additional education courses independently. They will help him find and develop his talents.

Today, more and more elite educational institutions, be it schools or universities, require an impressive portfolio, which cannot be compiled without taking courses for schoolchildren. Maybe your child has an excellent ear for music and sings well? Or does he like to collect model airplanes? Or wants to become an ecologist? Additional education will help you identify and develop your child’s talents, as well as find friends with similar interests.

Why do schoolchildren need additional education?

In circles and sections
children learn to communicate
and often find themselves
friends with similar interests

The ability to draw beautifully, win chess tournaments, play the violin, run fast - your child will be able to acquire these and many other abilities in institutions of additional education for schoolchildren. In addition, various clubs and sections can also be an excellent help for studying many school disciplines. Additional education can give a child a lot in terms of upbringing, socialization and development.

  • Identification and development of abilities. Does your daughter spend a lot of time drawing, but your son constantly disappears on the football field? Or maybe the student doesn’t know what to do with his time? Activities will help your child find himself and develop his own talent. , art schools, science courses - thanks to the wide range of additional education institutions offered today, a student will be able to choose a club in almost any direction.
  • Socialization. What could be more fun and interesting than doing something in the company of like-minded people?! Clubs are not only a favorite activity, but also communication with children who are passionate about the same thing. Discussing films in a film club, playing basketball and cheering for your team, singing in a choir - additional education courses will help your child make new acquaintances, make friends and interact in society. Often, it is in institutions of additional education that schoolchildren find friends with similar interests, with whom they remain friends for the rest of their lives.
  • Self-discipline. There is no strict control in clubs, clubs and courses for schoolchildren; the child chooses them based on his abilities and aspirations. So the student himself is interested in his successes and achievements, therefore additional education develops self-control, self-discipline and self-development, which will be useful to him both in regular lessons at school and in other areas of life.
  • Career guidance. Whether your child plays tennis or loves to craft with clay, any hobby can develop into a profession. Classes at school, as a rule, are limited to a range of certain disciplines, which do not allow everyone to fully reveal their talents. But this allows schoolchildren additional education. Is your child seriously interested in sculpture or playing chess? Perhaps this is a future sculptor or chess player.
  • Deepening and expanding knowledge in basic and elective disciplines. Additional education courses help not only to demonstrate oneself and one’s talents, but also to improve knowledge in those subjects that students have in the main school curriculum. For example, classes in the law and economics club will help in social studies lessons, and the robotics club will be an excellent assistant in studying physics. A child's tutor can handle the same task. Some courses take .

Areas of additional education

The directions and programs of additional education are completely different, and every child can find something to their liking. According to their specificity, all clubs and courses of additional education are divided into several groups:

  • Artistic and aesthetic direction(creative studios, music and art schools, dance, literary, theater clubs, etc.);
  • Cultural direction(book clubs, museology, art and library circles, historical and cultural centers, etc.);
  • Scientific and technical direction(computer courses, stations for young technicians, clubs for robotics, designing aircraft, ships, etc.);
  • Natural science direction(geographical, physical, chemical circles, courses in astronomy, medicine, etc.);
  • Ecological and biological direction(stations for young naturalists, ecology and local history courses, etc.);
  • Military-patriotic direction(military sports sections, historical and patriotic circles, search work, etc.);
  • Physical education and sports direction(sports sections, physical therapy, orienteering and tourism clubs, classes in gyms, etc.);
  • Social and pedagogical direction(circles dedicated to a healthy lifestyle, charitable organizations, social youth movements, etc.);
  • Economic and legal direction(courses in economics, political science and law).

Additional education organizations and tutors

Continuing education courses can be conducted at the school where the child is studying or in other educational organizations. At the same time, attending courses at school after school will be much more convenient for the child himself. But, unfortunately, in schools the choice of clubs is limited, and they may not have the required course.

A good option would be an educational center with various clubs that have a common focus. For example, your child is interested in natural sciences. Wouldn't it be great if the chemistry and biology clubs were located in the same place?! The same applies to various art schools, where a child can learn to play a musical instrument, sing and dance.

Tutoring plays a special role in the additional education of schoolchildren. This is especially true in high school when preparing for the State Examination and the Unified State Exam. Tutoring can also help struggling students. When choosing a tutor, pay attention to the teacher's track record and his recommendations. Often school teachers also provide tutoring. Read how to find a good one on our website.

Watch out, time!

When choosing a tutor
need to pay attention
on his work experience
and manner of communication

Of course, clubs and sections are great: in them, the child can do something interesting to him, develop useful skills and find new friends. Therefore, the desire of many parents to send their child to a club is completely justified. However, today various courses for schoolchildren have become a fashionable trend, and therefore some parents are trying to send their child to as many clubs as possible.

With all its advantages, a lot of clubs will not benefit the child at all, because he will have no free time left at all. Classes in most clubs are held twice a week, while children who are seriously involved in sports train almost every day. And do not forget that the child needs to devote time to homework, walks and rest.

If you want to send your child to a club, be sure to pay attention to the correct allocation of time. A student shouldn’t have a busy week! It is better to limit yourself to one or two circles or sections. If your child is very active, for comprehensive development, teachers recommend choosing three different courses: scientific, creative and sports. A larger number of circles is fraught with overwork.

It is also necessary to keep in mind that the child must choose the direction of additional education independently, otherwise he will quickly abandon his endeavor.

Additional education for schoolchildren

Continuing education courses will become a place where your child will definitely meet new friends and like-minded people. Such training will be personally meaningful and will increase the student’s motivation and self-organization. An interesting circle can become not only a place of work, but also of relaxation, because it is impossible to get tired of your favorite activities.

Designing airplanes, playing the flute or figure skating - additional education for schoolchildren will not only be an interesting pastime, but also an opportunity to realize their talents and dreams. Perhaps your child will turn his childhood hobby of photography or wood carving into a profession in which he will achieve great success.

According to the new educational standard, extracurricular activities are a mandatory part of school education; 10 hours a week are allocated for her. Extracurricular activities can be of a very different nature: from doing homework and consulting teachers to classes in school scientific societies, clubs, sections, clubs, i.e. all those extracurricular activities that are called additional education.

Basic school education is aimed at imparting a certain amount of knowledge, skills and abilities. Additional - finds practical application of the knowledge and skills acquired in primary school, helps the child’s early self-determination, develops his creative potential, instills adaptation skills to modern society, and is a full-fledged organization of free time. Additional education, in contrast to basic education, is personality-oriented and presupposes the child’s free choice of areas and types of extracurricular activities.

The importance of additional education in modern school education is very great. In primary school, students have difficulty completing the standard curriculum; additional education allows students to deepen and expand their knowledge in core and elective subjects. In clubs and scientific societies, the research activity of schoolchildren is stimulated. Achieving success stimulates motivation to learn. Additional education is an informal community of children of different ages and adults united by common interests and voluntary joint activities. This contributes to the process of socialization of the personality of schoolchildren and instills teamwork skills. Finally, additional education organizes meaningful leisure time.

The main directions and most common forms of additional education in Moscow schools:

  • artistic and aesthetic (all kinds of creative studios teaching music, vocals, rhythm, dancing, playing musical instruments; school theaters; clubs for fine and decorative arts, literary creativity, etc.);

  • scientific and technical (sections for the study of computers and applied computer programs; stations and houses for young technicians; clubs for aircraft, ship, rocket and auto modeling, electrical and radio and robotics; Lego design, etc.);

  • natural sciences (entertaining geography, physics, chemistry, astronomy clubs, on-line natural science courses for high school students, etc.)

  • ecological and biological (ecological local history clubs, youth stations, field workshops in biology, etc.);

  • physical education and sports (sections of team sports, martial arts; classes in the gym; general sports training; physical therapy, etc.);

  • military-patriotic (organization of museums of military glory; technical and military-applied sports; military sports competitions; search work; participation in the construction and care of monuments; study groups for the history and culture of the Fatherland and native land, for the creation of chronicles, etc. );

  • cultural studies (folk art sections; language clubs, library clubs, literary and art clubs; museology; excursion programs, etc.).
  • An important area of additional education is career guidance. It is partially implemented within the framework of classes in other areas, and also involves studying the abilities and interests of students, advising on the choice of professions and informing about the world of professions and the current situation on the labor market, developmental classes, acquaintance with institutions of additional and vocational education in order to build further educational route, etc.

    There are several models of additional education in schools. Most often, a set of clubs and sections are offered that are not interconnected and depend on the personnel and material capabilities of the school. Sometimes the program of classes in a section or circle turns out to be so interesting that it develops into an elective course and is included in the curriculum. Better and more diverse additional education programs are usually offered in schools that cooperate with cultural, sports or scientific institutions, with children's creativity centers on an ongoing basis. In this case, the implementation of additional education programs is carried out by specialists from these institutions. It is even better if the center of additional education is a structural unit of the school, for example, in education centers, sports, music schools, and health schools. All additional education programs in such complexes are free for their students.

    Various forms of work in additional education are used. Cognitive forms of work: conversations, discussions, round tables, meetings with veterans, eyewitnesses of historical events; representatives of modern economics, culture, science; museum search activities; design and research activities; excursions to museums, historical and literary places; hiking trips and trips. Cognitive and gaming forms include the participation of children in Olympiads, festivals, sports competitions and other events. Creative forms of work include participation and organization of concerts, competitions, performances, exhibitions of works and achievements. Additional education can also take place in a leisure form, which consists of holding class and school evenings, visiting theaters and concerts, and in an active form, involving the participation of schoolchildren in charitable and other public events.

    Today, some additional education services are paid. There is nothing wrong. There are no state-funded institutions of further education anywhere in the world. The introduction of paid services promotes competition in the educational sphere, improves the qualifications of teachers and strengthens the material base of an educational institution. It is obvious that in Russia those areas of additional education that arouse the interest of children and parents will flourish, while the rest will disappear.
