The results of entrance tests for admission to full-time study are recognized by universities as the results of entrance tests for other forms of education and (or) conditions of study.

It all starts with choosing a university, and then the direction you want to enroll in. Next, choose a specialty and see what subjects you need to take for admission. For example, at Moscow State University the entrance exams for the “Programming” direction are computer science, mathematics, and Russian. So, you will only have to take these subjects for admission. With all this, it is worth considering that mathematics and computer science are specialized here. This means that exams will also be more difficult. However, you shouldn’t be too afraid of them. Now we will try to understand how to pass the entrance exams.

Making a choice

Before you think about the final test, you will have to choose the subjects you need to pass. Faculties and entrance exams are closely related. They, as a rule, show applicants the main directions in relation to which all further training will take place.

All examples of entrance exams (or rather, a list of them) can be found on the official pages of universities. They are usually located in the "Applicants" section. Exams vary depending on the faculty. How?

For example, in order to study in “Economics” or “Service”, you will have to take Russian language, social studies and mathematics. And the main subject here is social studies. The main admission rating will be based on this. For medical school you will have to take biology, chemistry and Russian. In linguistics - foreign, Russian, as well as history or social studies (depending on the educational institution and direction).

Make your choice long before admission. After all, this is what will help you prepare in a timely manner. Usually students know which faculty to enter already from the 8th-9th grade. And from about this time they begin preparation.

Mandatory exams

University entrance exams vary. But all schoolchildren are required to be tested in two subjects in the 11th grade. This is Russian language and mathematics. Now the second subject can be ordinary or specialized.

Preparation for these exams usually begins in the 8th grade. And it continues until graduation from school. At the same time, children are assigned special testing outside of school hours. Based on the examples of exams already conducted, students are “trained” and taught to give the correct answers to a particular question. Plus, this approach helps to understand what type of assignments can be given.

If you are wondering how to pass the mandatory entrance exams (without taking into account the profile), then the answer is extremely simple: start studying the material taught to you. Usually this is what the final test will be taken on. And it is advisable to do this from the very beginning of the transition to high school. Otherwise, it will be very difficult to catch up with the material later.

College

There are also college entrance exams. They are built on the same principle as testing knowledge for admission to universities. Only here the requirements for points scored are much lower. Approximately twice.

And all this is because schoolchildren usually enter college after the 9th grade. As elsewhere, it is mandatory to take mathematics and Russian. At the same time, depending on the direction, you may be offered: biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, a creative project, literature, and so on. Usually this is where it all ends. Recently, the introduction of a competition in drawing or journalism (depending on the specialization of the educational institution) has become extremely popular.

Before entering college, you will have to ask about the list of subjects required to pass. As a rule, such educational institutions also have an official website where everything can be seen. The only thing that may vary (changes are published approximately from February in each academic year) are the passing scores - those with which you will have a chance to get into the chosen direction.

Graduates of past years

At Moscow State University (as at all other universities in the country) entrance exams for graduates are held in the university building within strictly defined periods. And they are almost no different from those offered to schoolchildren.

To be honest, it will be more difficult for graduates of previous years to pass the exams in some sense. When an applicant decides to pass this or that subject for admission to a university without any prompting, he will have to try hard. After all, entrance exams will often be conducted not in the form of a test, but as an interview testing the acquired knowledge.

This means you won't have much time to think. The teacher will have to answer quickly and accurately. Otherwise, you may be asked additional or tricky questions. But don’t be afraid - universities prefer to conduct the most common tests. Exactly the same technique for testing knowledge is used at the end of school in grades 9 and 11. And now we will try to figure out how to successfully cope with such a test.

Own mind

The surest and most effective technique that can be offered to applicants is passing exams with their own mind. Yes, you will have to try hard, but in this case you can hope for the best result.

As already mentioned, preparation for entrance exams should be done in advance. And the sooner you start, the better. It is advisable to decide on a direction and profile in 8th grade, and then hone your knowledge in the chosen subjects.

If exams are coming soon, then you need to actively prepare. It's best to start a couple of months in advance. This will help you not to overload your brain with a flood of information in a short period of time. Plus, you will always have time to fill gaps in knowledge. To prepare, it is best to find a calm and quiet place where no one will disturb you. It is also better to stay away from gadgets during this period - they will only distract you.

Start studying (reading and studying) what you studied in school. Plus, buy special developments for the Unified State Exam (preparation manuals) and read them. Take all offered tests. This is the only way you will be able to learn all the material. Then, at the appointed time, attend the entrance exams and answer all the questions asked. Typically, the Unified State Exam consists of 3 parts: a test, tasks with multiple choice answers, and a creative or logical part. And it is the last moment that causes difficulties. For it you will have to develop your logical thinking.

Gadgets

It doesn’t matter what entrance exams you need to pass - mathematics, chemistry, Russian or physics, and so on. The main thing is to be ready to give answers on subjects to almost any question. But how can you make this a reality? This issue especially concerns those who did not prepare for exams in advance or are negligent in studying. Will they really not be able to pass the entrance exams?

Not at all. When you are very afraid for the success of passing the Unified State Exam, you can try to resort to the help of gadgets. In general, this technique is strictly prohibited. But schoolchildren and applicants still try to protect themselves in this way. Please note that it is strictly prohibited to bring any equipment with you into the exam area. Even a mobile phone. And even more so to use them.

If you decide to resort to the help of gadgets during the exam, then there are several very interesting approaches. The first is using the Internet on your phone to find answers to questions. Long, but possible. Especially if you type quickly and discreetly. The main thing is not to attract attention to yourself.

In addition, you can download textbooks and manuals to your smartphone. Or take a photo of all the material you study, and then open it when needed. As a rule, this technique is used in the exact sciences: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology. Formulas and tables are what students record on their phones. However, remember that this risks expulsion from the audience!

Headphones to the rescue

Entrance exams to universities (especially oral ones) are very often attempted with the help of a modern miracle of technology - a micro-earphone. But it can be very difficult to use. After all, it consists of a tiny earphone and a whole system of wires that is put on the body and hidden under clothes.

What is this scenario? You need to find a person who will dictate all the correct answers. Usually friends ask about this. According to the instructions, connect the micro-earphone to your mobile phone, put the earphone in your ear and call a friend. Next, he hears you and everything that happens. If necessary, whisper a question, and they answer it for you.

True, this technique is now beginning to lose its relevance. Why? Because at many examination points, special signal blockers are installed. And when this device works, there is no connection within its range of action, either the Internet or a cellular signal. Therefore, you should not hope that using a micro-earphone will help you pass exams accurately and successfully.

Spurs

Cheat sheets are a fairly common and most effective dishonest method that will help you pass university entrance exams. All you have to do is write the clues to yourself and then hide them. So that you can use them at any time.

Schoolchildren know many different options for writing spurs - some do them on small pieces of paper, others on whole A4 sheets. Choose the technique that suits you, and then figure out where you will hide the cheat sheets, as well as how you can look at the answer in them.

The most popular places are on the thigh under a skirt (for girls), in trousers, on the soles of shoes, in a jacket. Sometimes girls hide small “spurs” in their bras, but you can only peek at them no more than 2-3 times during the entire exam. After all, you can leave the audience only with an accompaniment and a strictly defined number of times.

Why cheat sheets help

Many people are interested in why those who have written spurs most often pass the entrance exams successfully. In truth, there is a completely logical explanation for this. Which one exactly? Now we will get acquainted with it.

The thing is that when writing cheat sheets, we mentally read and repeat the material we have covered. Plus, the presence of hints gives you confidence in your actions - if anything happens, you can spy on it. This way the brain is not overloaded and remembers written formulas and text better. Ultimately, during the exam, all the necessary information will come to mind in your memory, and you will be able to successfully answer the questions asked.

After passing

What to do after you have passed the entrance exams? You will have to wait for the results and see how many points you managed to score in total in all subjects. If required, you will be given a special certificate.

Collect the necessary documents for admission to the university and submit them before the deadline set by the university. Be sure to attach the Unified State Examination certificate to them. All that remains is to wait and monitor the ratings of applicants. Remember, the more points you have, the better.

Conclusion

So, today we learned how you can pass the entrance exams and enter a university. In general, the Unified State Exam plays a very important role for school graduates. Many applicants even take a sedative before the final test.

And when passing exams, try to use only your knowledge. After all, they are the most honest and sure way to avoid being kicked out of the Unified State Exam. If you fail to pass the exam the first time, you will be given a day to retake it. Failure again? Then wait until next year and try to pass your chosen subjects!

What are university entrance tests? This question worries many high school students who have to make difficult choices.

Features of entrance tests

Despite the numerous transformations that are currently taking place in the system of domestic secondary and higher education, in addition to the results obtained by graduates on the Unified State Exam, academies and universities have the right to conduct their own entrance exams.

Many high school students want to know in advance how to pass entrance tests at a university and whether it is possible to prepare for them.

In order to select from the large stream of applicants the guys who really deserve to be admitted to the university, prestigious domestic universities conduct internal tests.

Classification of additional exams

Entrance tests to universities - what are they? Currently, they are usually divided into basic and additional tests. The first group consists of those subjects that are included in the Children get a chance to pass within the walls of a higher educational institution those subjects that, for various reasons, they did not choose at school.

The second group includes special entrance tests to universities in the Russian language, social studies, and creative tasks. Depending on the specifics of the higher-level educational institution, additional exams may vary. They make it possible to identify among the stream of applicants the most talented students who have deep knowledge and skills necessary for their chosen specialty.

Technical focus

Engineering universities and academies typically have additional entrance tests in mathematics. You can get into a university based on the results of special subject Olympiads organized by the educational institution itself. Each top-level educational institution tries to organize intellectual tournaments and competitions on its base, the winners of which receive additional points when submitting documents to the university.

Who should take additional tests?

Not all applicants know how to pass the university entrance examination. For some of them, the very fact of having to take additional exams becomes an unpleasant surprise. Let's try to understand what university entrance tests are and who should take them. The main tests will be faced by those applicants who are not in the disciplines that are mandatory in the chosen field of study.

They are also available to those individuals who graduated from secondary educational institutions before 2009. Applicants who already have a higher or secondary specialized education also take mandatory exams.
Entrance exams are also mandatory for foreign citizens who decide to study at Russian higher educational institutions.

Features of additional tests

What are additional university entrance tests? Their higher-level educational institutions are established for creative specialties: acting, architecture and construction, artistic creativity. In addition, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and future cadets of flight and military schools undergo additional tests.

Discussing what university entrance tests are, we note that their results are summed up with the points scored by the applicant on the Unified State Exam.

All applicants applying for admission to their chosen specialty are required to take additional exams.

List of tests

Each educational institution has the right to independently determine the type and number of additional tests, as well as to establish subjects that are taken in the form of the Unified State Exam.

What kind of university entrance tests await applicants?

Examples of general education subjects for which main tests are conducted at a university (academy):

  • mathematics;
  • geography;
  • physics;
  • Russian language and literature;
  • biology;
  • story;
  • foreign language.

How are entrance tests held at the university? For example, as additional exams, applicants are offered testing of their physical fitness, psychological readiness for the profession, and creative work is offered.

The educational institution itself chooses the form of the exam:

  • testing;
  • written testing;
  • oral interview;
  • essay writing.

How to prepare for additional tests?

Is it possible to successfully pass entrance tests to universities? What are these preparatory courses? Each university that conducts additional tests organizes various preparatory courses for future applicants.

In addition, in large cities there are special educational centers whose main task is to fully prepare high school students for passing the unified state exam, as well as for successfully passing additional tests offered by higher educational institutions.

While many high school students only need to do well in school to prepare for the Unified State Exam, only a few can prepare themselves well for creative tests on their own. The best option would be to choose preparatory courses based on the higher educational institution you plan to enroll in.

Only in this case can one count on receiving the most useful information, which will certainly help the applicant become a student at an academy or university.

In addition to obtaining a certain level of knowledge necessary to successfully pass creative tests, in the process of additional course preparation, high school students will receive useful information about the teaching staff of the institute (university) and will get to know their future classmates. The courses also provide information about the requirements of a particular educational institution and the features of the educational process.

Helpful information

In order to get additional coursework at a university, you need to contact the educational institution at the beginning of the academic year, find out about the deadlines and In most domestic universities and academies, preparatory courses begin in October-November and continue throughout the academic year.

These courses will not only allow you to better assimilate certain information on academic disciplines, but will also provide an opportunity to change direction in a timely manner. For example, if a high school student, while attending preparatory courses in mathematics, realized that it would be difficult for him to compete with his peers in this academic discipline, he can switch to another major.

In addition to year-long courses, higher education institutions also offer short-term courses. The abbreviated training is designed for 2-3 weeks and is organized mainly immediately before entrance examinations to the university. Such courses are suitable for those high school students who for a long time could not decide on the choice of their future profession or had doubts about the selection of an educational institution.

Among the main disadvantages of such preparation for entering domestic universities and academies is the need to assimilate a large amount of information in a minimum time period. There is a high probability that the applicant simply does not have enough time to process the information received and optimally use it when passing the main and additional entrance tests to an academy or university.

Finally

Entering a university is a responsible and important stage in the life of every high school student. In order to increase your chances of success, you need to use all opportunities: take preparatory courses, collect diplomas and certificates, try your hand at subject Olympiads and creative competitions.

The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation has given higher education institutions the right to independently select a list of tests, upon successful completion of which the applicant receives the right to be admitted to the educational institution on a budgetary basis. Some universities exempt preferential categories of citizens from passing additional tests, but most domestic academies and universities offer them to all applicants. All additional tests are carried out in Russian, the only exception being the direction of study where the main academic discipline is a foreign language.

Everyone knows that competitive entrance examinations are designed to select the best. But not everyone knows that the previous university entrance exams performed another function: they set the applicant the level of requirements that was necessary for further education. The university educational process actually began with preparation for these exams for the future student. The entrance examination can well be called the first session, the successful completion of which meant that the applicant would be able to master the educational program.

This second (preparatory) function of entrance examinations was in fact the most important, since it (in most cases) eliminated the situation when a newly enrolled student was unable to study. Entrance tests in one subject, even at different faculties of the same university, were always different, because the requirements for students were different. It never occurred to anyone to give the same version of mathematics to future programmers and psychologists, for example.

The architects of the Unified State Exam did just that: they offered the same thing for everyone without exception. The result is a monster that cannot perform the preparatory function for anyone, precisely because of its versatility. The Unified State Examination rating scale ranks applicants well, but the scores on this scale do not reveal the level of knowledge that could ensure mastery of the educational program of a particular university.

Minimum USE passing scores do not solve this problem in any way. It is not at all serious to consider the Ministry of Defense thresholds in this capacity. In mathematics, for example, the official 27 passing points correspond to solving six simple problems at grades 5–7. In previous times, with such “knowledge” they would not have been accepted even into the 10th grade. The university has the right to raise this value.

Let's say he increases the minimum passing score to 50. Now to overcome the threshold you need not 6, but 10 tasks of the SAME LEVEL. And what has changed from this? In fact - nothing.

Each increase in the passing score narrows the pool of applicants. Moreover, capable guys are often left behind, who, precisely because of their abilities, do not pay enough attention to practicing “skills for passing the Unified State Exam”, and they are outscored by trained idiots. Note that if a university wants to ensure that applicants have reliable knowledge of geometry, for example, then it will have to set an unimaginable threshold of 98 points (graduates with such indicators are now only 0.03%; a current student can pass the Unified State Exam in mathematics without any knowledge of geometry with 97 points) . Now even the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics at Moscow State University is groaning because its students do not know basic geometric facts.

So, the key fatal drawback of the Unified State Exam as an entrance exam is that it is not capable of performing the preparatory function of previous entrance tests. In addition, Unified State Examination scores are “valid for 4 years” (why not for life?), this provision is written into the law on education. And what remains of knowledge after 4 years? It seems that the developers of the law did not hear at all about the main function of the entrance exam.

The consequence is a TOTAL DECEPTION OF YOUTH. Schoolchildren collect their Unified State Exam scores, the happy ones go to university and there they find themselves “at the bottom”: they cannot study. From the first day they drop out of the educational process and either leave over time or float on the waves of regulatory per capita funding (which does not allow the university to get rid of them on its own) with fake C grades for the same diploma. This process has today covered almost ALL universities and ALL faculties.

The ugliest thing in this story is that if at least part of the effort spent on preparing for the Unified State Exam was aimed at achieving the level of previous entrance tests, the same students could quite successfully study at the same universities.

So, when the entrance exams begin, has the number of seats changed on a budget, fee basis? Admission to a higher education institution is the number one question for all graduates.

  4. Are online exams real?

The rules are regularly changed, revised, and clarified. We need to be prepared for this to happen again in 2018.

Features and innovations

Despite the fact that admission is a difficult period for the future student and his parents, positive aspects can be highlighted here.

  1. To enroll, you must provide the admissions committee with a certificate containing your Unified State Exam scores. From now on, the final certification can be taken twice a year. Preliminary examination takes place in February. Based on the test results, the graduate either uses them for admission or signs up for a retake. The second Unified State Examination dates back to May. Every graduate knows that test results become a ticket to the best institutions in Russia.
  2. If a graduate missed the deadlines for entrance exams to universities in 2018, don’t worry. Test results are valid for three years. This means that based on the results of one Unified State Exam, you can apply for three years in a row.
  3. Each university has its own individual requirements and rules.

    Entrance tests and programs

    For example, liberal arts universities place more emphasis on the Russian language. Be prepared for the fact that in order to enter, for example, a medical university, you will need to pass some additional disciplines.

This decision was made at the request of teachers. A student, knowing which disciplines will be on the exam, masters a narrow range of disciplines, which negatively affects the overall level of education. The new rules for entrance exams for universities in 2018 will avoid this problem.

What are the dates for the 2018 entrance exams to leading universities in Moscow?

  1. MSU – 10-21.07.
  2. MGIMO – 12-25.07.
  3. National Research University Higher School of Economics – 16.07.–24.07.
  4. MIPT – 10-26.07.

  8. MSTU – 10-25.07.
  9. MAI – 21.07.–23.08.
  10. MIREA – 18-22.07.

If you carefully analyze higher educational institutions in Moscow, then the most popular and in demand is Moscow State University. Lomonosov. However, everyone will agree that applying for admission to only one institute is irrational. Moreover, the more prestigious the institution, the higher the passing score. The number of universities where a graduate can apply should not exceed five.

Main Items and Benefits

When choosing an institution, pay attention to the specialized disciplines for each specialty to decide what you need to prepare for. Let's see which disciplines in universities will be encountered most often when taking entrance exams in 2018.

  1. Biology. The minimum number of points in biology is 36. To qualify for the budget, you will need to score 45-78 points, institutes with high competition - 79-100.
  2. Russian language. The minimum number of points on the Unified State Exam is 36. To pass the budget, you will have to work hard, scoring 45-72 points in the Russian language, prestigious educational institutions - 72-100.
  3. Mathematics. The minimum Unified State Exam score is 36. For a budget place you need to score 45-80 points, for admission to a leading university - 80-100.

For each discipline there are certain criteria, passing grades. By the way, the rules for conducting entrance exams for 2018 have no special innovations or changes.

What about benefits? It is no secret that all applicants can be divided into two groups - state employees and contract employees. Each year the number of places per budget varies.

  • orphans;
  • disabled people;
  • children without parental care.

It is known that in 2018, only 10% of places will be allocated for all of the above categories of beneficiaries. All other graduates will have to take entrance exams, observing the deadlines and basic rules.

From 2018, graduates of schools in Crimea and Sevastopol will be able to enroll on a general basis. General education institutions of the peninsula had enough time to adapt to new learning conditions.

By the way, no one prohibits an applicant from submitting documents to different universities, both in person and remotely.

The following categories are not eligible to submit an electronic application:

  • beneficiaries;
  • eligible for priority enrollment;
  • having additional points for preparatory courses.

You have to take entrance exams. In recent years, universities have received more opportunities to choose the form of their conduct. Depending on the specifics of the university, these can be practical tasks, for example, in drawing, or testing knowledge in core subjects.

What are university entrance tests?

Entrance tests to universities are additional exams that are conducted upon admission to study professions, the successful mastery of which requires creative abilities or special physical and psychological qualities.

These tests are carried out:

  • on exam papers orally or in writing;
  • in the format of an interview with representatives of the admissions committee;
  • in the form of tests, essays, creative work.

The program of additional tests is formed by the institutes independently on the basis of state standards.

Why are entrance exams needed at universities?

According to the law, universities must admit students to study based on the results of state exams, but in some cases, institutes and universities have the right to prescribe additional tests. The list of educational institutions with special powers to conduct additional tests of knowledge and skills is annually reviewed and approved by the Government of the Russian Federation.

Additional exams at universities are necessary to select from a large number of applicants who have successfully passed the Unified State Exam the most capable, talented and most suitable for future work in their chosen specialty. They are often held by educational institutions where there is a lot of competition for admission, for example, Moscow State University and MGIMO, as well as military schools, universities and academies of creative orientation - art, theater, music.

How are university entrance exams conducted?

The form of entrance tests is determined by the management of the institute: this can be a test of the level of physical fitness or depth of knowledge of specialized disciplines, psychological testing, or a competition of creative works. One exam is usually worth one hundred points.

The results of the entrance examinations are summarized with the marks obtained by school graduates on the Unified State Examination.

The process of conducting additional examinations must be documented in the form of a protocol, where questions and comments from teachers are recorded. In some educational institutions, beneficiaries may be exempt from exams, but most universities do not make exceptions even for applicants of special categories.

Entrance exams can also be conducted using remote technologies. This method is practiced by leading universities of the Russian Federation, for example HSE, for applicants with disabilities.

How to prepare

Tutors for major subjects are not always the best option. Each university that accepts students based on the results of the Unified State Exam and additional tests, pre-conducts special preparatory courses in basic disciplines. As a rule, they begin in the fall and continue until the entrance exams.

During the classes, future applicants gain knowledge and skills that meet the requirements of a specific educational organization, get acquainted with teachers, potential fellow students, rules for taking exams, features of the educational process and other subtleties of university life. Therefore, it is better to prepare for admission at the institute or university chosen for education after school. In addition, universities sometimes award bonus points to applicants who have attended classes in these special programs.

Courses are short-term (from several weeks to a couple of months) and basic (about six months). The first option is less preferable and is intended for those who are late in enrolling in basic programs. But express training will also be very useful.

Entrance exams: specialties and directions

All future students must pass a unified state exam, on the basis of which they will be admitted to a university, institute or academy. The exceptions are:

  • St. Petersburg State University;
  • universities providing training in creative, medical and military specialties.

According to the law on education, since 2013, Moscow State University and St. Petersburg State University have the right to conduct additional tests in all subjects that are taken at the Unified State Exam for admission to any specialty and field of study. MSLU, NSLU im. Dobrolyubov, MGIMO and Moscow State Law Academy, but for enrollment in certain undergraduate and specialist programs.

The list of specialties related to, as well as requiring certain basic knowledge and skills, includes:

  • journalism;
  • Physical Culture;
  • TV;
  • acting art;
  • painting;
  • sculpture;
  • design;
  • choreography;
  • architecture and others.

A complete list of specialties and areas was approved by Order of the Ministry of Education and Science No. 1142.

Additional tests are often conducted in two or three rounds in the form of a combination of an interview, oral, written, practical professional or creative examination and are always related to the field of future activity. For example, applicants to VGIK for the specialty “producing” at the first qualifying stage must, in 4 hours, analyze in writing the proposed problematic production situation relating to culture and art in order to find an effective way out of it. On the second, give oral answers to exam questions compiled on topics covering literature, music, visual, theatrical and cinematic arts. Plus, complete a practical task, for example, of this type: in an hour of preparation, schematically develop proposals for organizing an advertising campaign and distribution of a feature film.

Universities publish a list of entrance tests for each specialty or in a general field on their websites at the beginning of the academic year, so applicants have enough time to prepare for the creative or professional exam. The main thing is not to waste it, then everything will work out.
