Admission to the Bachelor's degree for foreigners is through a special preparatory course. Its peculiarity is that after completing the preparatory course, a foreign student moves on to the SECOND year of a bachelor's degree! That is, there is no loss of time, despite the name of the course as “preparatory”! During the course, a foreign student receives up to 48 “credits”, and for the entire bachelor’s degree he needs to gain about 120 credits! This is what allows you to “jump” from the preparatory course directly to the second year.
Basic entry requirements:

Why does the university conduct a preparatory program for foreigners?
1. According to the law of the state of Florida, all students (including foreigners) must show an SAT result upon admission... Where can an applicant from Irkutsk or Lugansk get it, say? Preparation and passing of these American tests takes place during the Preparatory Program.
2. For direct admission to a bachelor's degree, TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6.5 is required. Not all foreigners have this high level! Therefore, in the preparatory program, the entrance language requirements are lower, and in special classes a lot of attention is paid to language training, especially such a component as “Academic English”.
3. Education systems and teaching methods in different countries significantly different! In some places the approach is “cramming” and “iron chair”, in others little attention is paid critical thinking etc. During the preparatory program, foreigners pay great attention to such a subject as Study Skills - that is, how to study correctly according to US academic standards: how to record lectures, how to write term papers, how to manage time during tests, how to work in libraries, how to compile correctly so as not to be accused of plagiarism, etc.
The duration of training in the Preparatory Program is 3 semesters - 12 months. At the end of the program, ALL successful students are automatically transferred to the 2nd year of the bachelor's degree. Performance criterion: GPA (grade point average) 2.5 out of 4.0 (4-point scale in the USA) or, in other words, grade C or higher.
